Alaska Airlines Flight Deal
Alaska is having a one day flash sale today with some great fares to Seattle, Portland and more. While $89 dollar fares from Austin are not unheard of for their destinations in California, I don’t think I’ve ever seen this price for locations in the Pacific North West.
These days when airlines are competing in a race to the bottom, Alaska is a breath of fresh air. While the 3 major legacy airlines have all just implemented horrible “Basic Economy” schemes, Alaska is busy winning their tenth JD Power Customer Satisfaction Award.
In fact, when I had to call them recently, I always got through to a human within 30 seconds of dialing. Their recent purchase of Virgin America has expanded their routing and brought two great airline cultures together.
They also have one of the best award programs out there with great availability and an amazing partner program.
My Alaska Air Experience
I recently flew Alaska Air to Anchorage with a 3 day stopover in Seattle. I’m lucky enough to be MVP Gold, due to an old Virgin America status match and an extension when the programs combined. The first class upgrade I received on some of the legs was a great bonus. While domestic first class in the USA is nothing special, Alaska’s costumer-centric culture, combined with it’s relative ease of attainment make it worth the effort.
What to Do in Seattle
Seattle is a lovely city, at least in the summer. If you have a few days I definitely recommend seeing some of the National Parks like Olympic or Mt Rainer, especially while we still have this great weather. Of course you can stay in the city too and never run out of activities. One of my favorites was the Museum of Pop Culture. It’s located right near the Space Needle and many other great Museums.
